White-backed Vulture

This White-backed Vulture (Afrikaans name,Witrugaasvoel) was just one of the many vultures waiting to finish off the buffalo kill that four male lions were busy eating at the time that we took this photo.

They actually look quite beautiful when flying on high, looking for carrion.

These specimens were seen at Elephant Plains and in the Kruger National Park.

As can be seen here, this vulture has a swollen crop meaning he has just had a full meal.
