Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo

The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo has a distinctive bright yellow crest which is raises when alarmed. They gather in large flocks outside the breeding season.

They are loud and raucous and are found mostly in Wooded areas, feeding mainly on the ground, eating grass, seeds herbaceous plants, fruit and berries. Insects and larvae are also taken.

We saw them in Centennial Park.
