Little Bittern

The Little Bittern (Afrikaans name, Kleinrietreier) is a very secretive and shy bird, seldom seen out in the open and we have been fortunate enough to catch a brief glimpse of him on two occasions at Intaka Island.

It is an uncommon resident and is a Palearctic migrant found mainly in reed beds.
