Laughing Dove

The Laughing Dove (Afrikaans name, Rooiborsduifie) is an abundant resident throughout southern Africa, with a wide range of habitats including urban gardens. Stays away from forests.

It is a fairly small bird and can be identified by the black flecked necklace.

We saw this one “anting” in the sun, apparently they do this to get rid of mites.
