European Bee-Eater

The European Bee-eater (Afrikaans name, Europese Byvreter) is a Palearctic migrant to South Africa arriving in October and leaving end March/early April.

They are beautifully coloured and breed in the South Western parts of our country.

The feed mainly on insects and of course bees. We saw these in the Kruger National Park.

What a beautiful bird.
