African Pipit

The African Pipit (Afrikaans name Gewone Koester) is a common and widespread resident across most of South Africa.

Seen mostly in open, short grassland especially where recently mowed or burnt.

We have observed them in the Malmesbury agricultural lands as well as Strandfontein sewage works.

They feed mostly on insects.
