African Black Duck

The African Black Duck (Afrikaans name Swarteend) is a fairly uncommon duck not seen very often.

It feeds upended in Ponds and lakes at dusk and dawn. Female quacks in flight and male gives a high pitched peep. We saw them at the Paarl Nature Reserve.
