Ku Ring Gai Chase National Park

Located in the west of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Bobbin Head is a large area offering lots of attractions and facilities. As well as being a great place to walk, paddle or go fishing, Bobbin Head is the perfect waterfront picnic spot.

The area features barbecues, picnic tables, shelters and plenty of green space.

Visit the Empire Marina to hire a run-a-bout with a fishing licence, or follow any of the number of walking tracks and collect maps and brochures from the Bobbin Head Information Centre.

Check into some welcome refreshments at the Waterside Bistro. You can also purchase some fish food and amuse yourself feeding the myriad of bream circling around underwater.

There are lots of birds to be seen like this Black-faced Cuckoo shrike, we will show you a few.

A cute little Masked Lapwing chick was running around.

We saw a Figbird for the first time here.

Some beautiful flowers to be seen as well like this Grevillea punicia or more commonly called a spider Grevillea.

As well as a Green bottlebrush.

Stroll the mangrove boardwalk behind the picnic area to see the rock formations and mangrove crabs. This rock formation looks though there is a face looking at you.

Some of the mangrove crabs or also known as Semaphore crabs. Here is a purple one trying to look big and tough.

And some daintier red semaphore crabs.
