Yellow Pansy Butterfly

A Yellow Pansy Butterfly (Junonia hierta cebrene) (Afrikaans name Geel Gesiggie) we had the pleasure to meet in the Kruger National Park.

With its wings closed it looks like just another insignificant butterfly but it reveals the true beauty once those wings are opened. It is a common butterfly found right across Southern Africa from gardens to the dry Karoo and on to the savannahs and grasslands.
