Southern Red Bishop In Transition

The Southern Red Bishop (Afrikaans name, Rooivink) when in transition into or out of his breeding colours (also known as being in eclipse) looks like a sad reflection of his former glory and at times looks positively scruffy.

We captured these transitional birds at Intaka Island.
