Natal Spurfowl

We happened to see these Natal Spurfowl (Afrikaans name, Natalse Fisant) on the road, they appeared to be trying to revive one of their brood. A sad sight to see.

It had obviously been hit by a car, probably racing through the park.

Kruger National Park has a speed limit of 50kmph which is plenty fast enough when on the lookout for wildlife.

They are able to hide very effectively in the bush with their well camouflaged plumage.
