Klaas’s Cuckoo

The Klaas’s Cuckoo (Meitjie, Afrikaans name) is a beautiful emerald green bird, the Afrikaans name comes from its call of may-i-kie, may-i-kie which it repeats between three and six times.

Like other cuckoos it does not build its own nest but lays its eggs in the nests of the sunbirds, batis, warblers and flycatchers.
