Hairy Field Spider

The Hairy Field Spider is a common variety found but seldom seen in most gardens. This spider is nocturnal and destroys its we every morning and spins a new one each morning.

It usually hides under leaves, branches or downpipes, rushing out to catch whatever insect has crashed into its web. We had this one in our garden in Cape Town and were lucky to have caught it early one day.
