Common Chaffinch

The Common Chaffinch (Afrikaans name Gryskoppie) is a fairly common resident in pine plantations and wooded areas on the Cape Peninsula.

The male is colourful with a pinkish face and breast and a blue-grey head. The female is a duller olive brown above and a pale grey brown below. We saw them at Little Stream in Constantia.
