Cape Shoveler

The Cape Shoveler (Afrikaans name, Kaapse Slopeend) is a common waterbird, seen in shallow waters across Southern Africa. Only the female quacks.

We have seen them at the Abrahamskraal hide in the West Coast National Park and the strandfontein sewage works.

Their colours are beautiful.
