Cape Longclaw

The Cape Longclaw, (Afrikaans name, Oranjekeelkakoentjie) is a strikingly beautiful common resident of the grasslands. Easily recognisable by their orange coloured throat.

You normally hear them before you see them, they have a loud cat-like “meeuw” sound.

They love perching on the top of the bushes when they sing, we see them often in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve.
