Cape Bulbul

The Cape Bulbul (Afrikaans name Tiptol) is easily recognised by the white lining around its eye and the yellow under his tail which has earned him the nickname of “butter bum”. It is a common endemic in fynbos, coastal scrub and urban gardens of the Western Cape.

We see them all over the Western Cape and at home in our garden.

They feed mainly on berries and are also seen hawking for insects.
