Black-Crowned Night Heron

The Black-crowned Night Heron (Afrikaans name, Gewone Nagreier) Normally roosts in the trees and reeds and coming out to feed in the early morning or evening and night. The adult is black and white with a black crown and white plume and a black beak.

The juvenile is dark brown with white streaks and a yellow bill. We spotted both of these at Intaka Island in Century City.
