Baillon’s Crake

The Baillon’s Crake (Afrikaans name, Kleinriethaan) caused quite a stir in Cape Town two years ago when it was spotted at Intaka Island in Cape Town. Birders flew in from all around the country, hoping to catch sight of this little bird.

It is an uncommon bird for this area apart from being an extremely secretive bird hardly ever showing itself.

We were among the lucky few who saw this bird.
