African Stonechat

The African Stonechat (Afrikaans name, Gewone Bontrokkie) is such a cute little bird, often seen balancing on the tops of dry stalks in the fields or on the fences. The male is of course the most colourful however the female is just as pretty in every way.

A common resident frequents, grassland, fynbos and scrub.

We saw them in the Agricultural lands in Malmesbury.
